Adoro te

by St. Thomas Aquinas

Devoutly I adore Thee, God I cannot see.
You are truly found within, all created majesty.
To you I bend both mind and heart in true simplicity.
In You sight and taste and touch fail to capture Thee.
Heart and mind alone can find ways to Thy mystery.
In Your own Incarnate Son, your Word O God is spoken.
Truth itself could never coin a more perfect token.
Godhead hid upon the cross in frail humanity.
And in our human broken hearts we echo the good thief's plea.
Your wounds that Thomas saw, I cannot now see.
Yet I confess You Lord and God truly One to be.
Help me my God to believe in you God whom I adore.
In your Grace my Hope and Love, Living God restore. . . .
